President Donald Trump announced on Friday an expansion of the TrumpRx prescription drug discount program, increasing its coverage to more than 800 medications.
The initiative, first launched earlier this year, is part of the administration’s broader effort to reduce the cost of prescription drugs for American patients.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said 160 additional medications have been added to the TrumpRx.gov platform, bringing the total number of discounted drugs to over 800.
"I am pleased to announce that TrumpRx.gov is adding another 160 Prescription Drugs, at highly discounted prices, for a new total of over 800 of the most commonly-used Prescription Drugs," Trump wrote.

He added that the website would now provide discounted offerings for most prescriptions filled nationwide, writing, "TrumpRx.gov will now provide clear, transparent, and DISCOUNTED offerings for FOUR OUT OF FIVE of every prescription filled by Americans."
The TrumpRx program features government-backed agreements with major pharmaceutical companies under what the administration calls "most-favored-nation" pricing arrangements.
These deals allow participating drugmakers to receive tariff exemptions while agreeing to lower prices for specific medications.
According to officials, the initiative extends discounted pricing to eligible consumers who pay cash for their prescriptions through the TrumpRx site.

Companies such as Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk are taking part in the program and have reduced prices on popular GLP-1 weight-loss medications.
Other discounted drugs include inhalers, HIV treatments, diabetes medications, and fertility products.
TrumpRx.gov enables users to compare medications, estimate potential savings, and download coupons for discounted prescriptions.
During remarks at a previous event in Washington, President Trump said the expansion builds on efforts from his first term to address the rising cost of prescription drugs.
"I was proud to make History during my First Term when we lowered Drug Prices, even if by a tiny percentage, because this amounted to a HUGE change compared to other presidents only raising Drug Prices," he wrote in his Truth Social post.
Trump claimed that under the "Most Favored Nations" approach, the United States will pay "no more or, ideally, less than any other Country for the same exact Drug." He also stated that prices are now being cut “by a LOT,” at times by “400 or 500 or 600 Percent.”
The administration says the program has already produced substantial savings for patients. Trump said, "These Most Favored Nations Deals have already, in fact, saved American Patients over 400 Million Dollars since the launch of TrumpRx.gov."
He attributed the success of the program in part to tariffs that he said pressured other countries to contribute more to global drug pricing structures.
"Of course, Most Favored Nations would not be possible without my use of TARIFFS, which are getting other Countries to 'pay up' instead of relying on American Patients getting ripped off," Trump wrote.
He concluded that his administration would pursue additional pricing agreements and partnerships to continue cutting costs.
"This is all great news, and I have instructed my Administration to secure more Most Favored Nations Deals, more Partnerships, and Lower Prices for every American Patient," he said.
