Jane Seymour has built a lifestyle that keeps her active, healthy, and grounded, but at 75, she’s drawing a firm line on one popular fitness trend.
The “Harry Wild” star said that she avoids yoga entirely because she knows her own competitive nature might work against her.
“I’ve had to actually tell myself that when I go into a group class, especially something like yoga, that I have to tell myself I am not going to win, because I’m way too A-type,” Seymour said with a laugh.
She admitted that her instinct to “want to win” would lead her to push too far.

“Which means that I can never have done yoga, and I will decide that I could turn myself into the pretzel like that person. No. No, I cannot. I’ll end up in the hospital or something.”
Instead, the Emmy-winning actress relies on a more balanced approach that emphasizes listening to her body. Her routine mixes light weights, walking, Pilates, and Gyrotonics. When none of that fits into her schedule, she turns to simple ballet exercises or sit-ups at home.
“Well, fitness, I try to do a combination of light weights, some walking, fast walking if I can, or up and down a hill,” she shared.
“I do Pilates and Gyrotonics, or if I can’t do any of that, I do the usual thing, the sort of sit-ups and some ballet exercises.”

That return to her ballet roots keeps her grounded. “Actually, I go back to my ballet roots. I do a full barre,” Seymour said. Her physical discipline pairs naturally with a Mediterranean-influenced diet she follows most days.
“I eat a Mediterranean diet, usually. I stay away from starch, but not completely, because I never want to think I’m on a diet,” she explained.
“I drink very moderately. When I’m filming, not at all.”
Seymour said the key is moderation and knowing when to stop. She believes maintaining energy comes from balance, not from chasing extreme regimens or competition.
That self-awareness has shaped the positivity and energy that fans continue to notice onscreen.
Her longtime friend and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” co-star Joe Lando still marvels at her stamina as they reunite for Season 5 of “Harry Wild.”
“This inexhaustible flipping energy,” Lando said. “She just goes, goes and goes.” He recalled filming long production days with Seymour decades ago, even when she was pregnant with twins, describing her determination as something that hasn’t changed.
Seymour credits that energy to passion more than to any secret wellness formula. “I know people keep asking me why, and I just say, because I love what I do,” she said.
“I just do, you know, and then when I stop, I sleep.”
As “Harry Wild” returns to Acorn TV, Seymour continues to balance her work as both star and executive producer. Off camera, her mindful approach to fitness and nutrition seems to reflect her broader philosophy: keep moving, stay curious, and don’t chase perfection.
With humor and honesty, Seymour’s routine shows that even at 75, health can be about joy, discipline, and knowing one’s own limits — not competing to win a workout.
