Simone Biles is soaking up the sun while recovering from a recent health scare that led to hospitalization. The 29 year old Olympian shared a new bikini look on Instagram on Sunday, June 14.

The photos also highlighted the “And still I rise” tattoo on her chest, a phrase Biles has connected to her resilience. Her sunny post arrived after she opened up earlier this month about a frightening hospital visit.

Biles wore a black bandeau bikini top featuring white straps. She paired it with matching bottoms that tied into bows at her hips.

The gymnast accessorized with a diamond chain necklace and a coordinating silver bracelet. She also wore the diamond engagement ring given to her by her husband, Jonathan Owens.

Round black sunglasses by Fendi completed the outfit as Biles spent time outside. Her highlighted hair was parted down the middle and worn down for the occasion.

Biles chose soft glam for the bikini photos. Her look included blushed cheeks, manicured brows and glossy lips as she soaked up the sun.

The tattoo visible in the photos carries particular meaning for Biles. She previously explained in her Netflix series, Simone Biles Rising, that she loved the saying associated with Maya Angelou before deciding to have it inked on her chest.

Biles said the phrase felt like the right reflection of both her career and her personal story. She connected its message to overcoming the traumas and downfalls she has experienced.

“Because I always rise to the occasion, and after all of the traumas and downfalls, I’ve always risen,” Biles said in the Netflix series. The tattoo remained clearly visible with her bandeau top in the Instagram post.

Her bikini moment followed a more serious update shared on Instagram earlier in June. Biles revealed that she had been hospitalized and described the experience as one of the most frightening moments of her life.

“I’m not one to normally share things like this because I value privacy in today’s age, but almost dying wasn’t on my bingo card this week,” she captioned a selfie on June 6. In the image, Biles could be seen wearing multiple hospital bracelets.

“This was one of, if not the, scariest experience of my life,” she added. However, Biles did not disclose any details about what caused the health scare or her hospitalization.

Biles did share that Owens, 30, had been out of town when the incident happened. She also expressed appreciation for the people close to her who offered support.

“I’ll explain sooner or later, but [shout out] to my close circle who reached out, checked in, visited or sent flowers 🤍🤍🤍, Love y’all,” she continued. Her message indicated that she might provide an explanation at another time.

In another photo from the hospital, Biles posted a screenshot of a monitor displaying her heart rate. “I’ll be here,” she wrote alongside the image.

Biles and Owens first connected in 2020 after matching on Raya. They made their relationship Instagram official in August of that year.

Owens, an Indianapolis Colts player, proposed on Valentine’s Day in 2022. He got down on one knee and popped the question, beginning the next chapter of their relationship.

The couple officially married during a private courthouse ceremony in Houston, Texas, in April 2023. One month later, they celebrated their nuptials in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
