Fitness influencer Wes Watson pleaded guilty to aggravated battery following a violent encounter at a Miami-Dade County gym, prosecutors confirmed Thursday.
The plea resolves the criminal case ahead of a sentencing hearing scheduled later this month.
Watson, known for his massive social media following and his transformation from ex-inmate to motivational personality, was charged after a December 29, 2024, altercation at Elevation Fitness in Miami-Dade County.
The confrontation drew widespread attention after video evidence surfaced of the attack.

According to police records, Watson told responding officers he had been working out when another man approached him and challenged him to a fight. Investigators said surveillance video captured Watson striking the man with a weightlifting belt during the dispute.
Watson’s attorney, Eric Clayman, characterized the situation as highly unusual during Thursday’s court proceedings. He argued that the alleged victim’s actions were driven by Watson’s internet fame rather than a spontaneous conflict.

"There's been a lot that's been argued in this case about stand your ground," Clayman said, according to Local 10.

"What's unique is you have an alleged victim that sought somebody out because of his presence online.
This guy bought a plane ticket, came through New Jersey, showed up at the gym for the sole purpose of confronting Mr. Watson."
Photos from the hearing show Watson appearing before a judge in Miami-Dade County court as his guilty plea was entered. His demeanor remained composed as the proceedings unfolded.
The incident marked another legal challenge for Watson, who has cultivated an image of discipline and redemption since his release from prison.
His digital platforms, where he shares content focused on fitness, entrepreneurship, and mindset, attract millions of followers.

The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office declined to provide further comment on the plea agreement. Details of Watson’s upcoming sentencing have not yet been publicly released.
Meanwhile, prosecutors in Broward County are pursuing unrelated felony charges against Watson. Those cases include accusations of felony battery, aggravated assault, witness tampering, and charges tied to an alleged domestic violence matter involving his girlfriend.
Those Broward County cases remain pending, and no trial dates have been finalized. Watson has not publicly commented on those allegations.
The December confrontation at Elevation Fitness sparked widespread social media debate about the pressures and public exposure associated with online fame.
Supporters praised Watson for his openness about his past, while critics pointed to the violent encounter as a troubling development.
Court footage released by local stations showed Watson and his attorney attentively listening as the judge confirmed the terms of the plea.
The courtroom atmosphere remained calm despite the case’s high-profile nature.

Following the plea, Watson is expected to face additional hearings later this month that will determine sentencing and potential fines.
His attorney did not disclose whether any plea deal included reduced penalties.
Watson’s rise to prominence began after years in prison, during which he developed a following by documenting his fitness routines and strict discipline.
The Miami case now marks a significant turning point in the story that helped shape his larger-than-life online persona.
