John Cusack sparked a fresh round of plastic surgery speculation after appearing Monday on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast. The 60 year old actor’s looks quickly became the dominant topic among Instagram commenters reacting to clips from the episode.

Cusack joined Horowitz to discuss roles in classic romantic comedies, including 1989’s Say Anything… and High Fidelity in 2000. He also spoke about his newly released graphic novel, Momo.

Yet the conversation in the comments veered away from Cusack’s work and toward his face. Fans launched into a frenzy of guesses about what cosmetic procedures might explain an appearance some described as “unrecognizable.”

Some commenters speculated that Cusack had received neurotoxin injections and fillers. Others insisted that he had undergone surgery, claiming they could see “the pull” on his skin.

Not everyone welcomed the intense scrutiny. One fan praised the interview clip and questioned why so many viewers were paying more attention to Cusack’s looks than to the conversation itself.

“This is such a great excerpt of this interview,” the fan wrote. “Can’t believe so many people are focusing on his looks? Strange society we’ve become.”

Cusack has never publicly addressed the plastic surgery rumors. His silence means the Instagram commentary remains speculation from viewers interpreting his appearance in the podcast clips.

During the interview, however, Cusack did confront a separate rumor that has followed him. He addressed the claim that he turned down the role of Walter White, the central character in the popular drama series Breaking Bad.

Cusack said the persistent story had even made him question his own memory. According to the actor, the show’s creator confirmed to him that the role was never offered to Cusack.

Walter White was ultimately played by Bryan Cranston. While Cusack used the podcast to clarify that casting rumor and discuss his career and graphic novel, the online reaction remained fixated on whether his face showed signs of cosmetic intervention.
